2020 Masters Golf Odds with Expert Betting Predictions
by Chris Vasile - 11/11/2020

With the 2020 Masters tournament just 24 hours away, now would be a great time to start finalizing your betting card if you haven’t already done so. But before we start breaking down this year’s edition of golf’s most prestigious Major, we have to understand how the event is going to be played out now that we have to deal with the COVID pandemic.

PGA Picks: US Open Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 9/15/2020

On the official golf 2020-21 calendar that started last week, this will be the first of two US Opens. Thankfully, they will have separate years, one in the current year and another in 2021. Because of the switch in time from mid-June to mid-September, the amount of available sunlight for Thursday and Friday, in particular, is affecting the size of the field, which is reduced to 144 golfers teeing it up (lowest since 1932) from the more traditional 156. That will mean the Top 60 scores and ties will advance to the weekend to win this prestigious event.

PGA Picks: Tour Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 9/1/2020

For a while back in March and April, it did not seem like we would see golf again this year, let alone the Tour Championship. Once we got going in June, despite no fans, it was a fun season and we could do golf betting. This week, we have only 30 players for the Tour Championship, those with the most FedEx Cup points. Dustin Johnson is the leader in points, ahead of last week’s winner Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas.

PGA Picks: BMW Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/25/2020

As opposed to last weekend, we should have a fairer test of golf after last week’s ridiculous course set up where Dustin Johnson was -30 under par. This week we have only 70 golfers that qualified for the BMW Championship, and they will play all four rounds, with the Top 30 moving ahead to next week to Atlanta for the Tour Championship.

PGA Picks: Northern Trust Open Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/18/2020

It must be August 2020, as the PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs are set to kick off this week, joining the NBA and NHL postseasons. The field is set at 125 qualifiers. And if somebody drops out, there are no replacements as we see in regular Tour events. For those that made this field, the money is massive and the stakes are enormous. The purses this week and next are 9.5 million, and the Top 70 in FEC points head to Chicago next week.

PGA Picks: Wyndham Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 8/11/2020

After a cool, damp and sometimes windy PGA Championship on the West Coast, the final stop of the regular season goes all the way across the country to Greensboro, NC, for Wyndham Championship. This is a very important tournament for players right along the cut line. To advance to next week’s tourney, you have to finish in the Top 125 of the FedEx Cup standings. Those that are 126 or lower have to up their game this week to cross into the upper portion of the standings, and those from about 110 to 125 are trying to put together four solid rounds and stay exactly where they are.

2020 PGA Championship Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Doug Upstone - 8/4/2020

In a year where few things have made sense, it fits perfectly that the first major golf championship happens in August, and it’s the PGA Championship. Trying to make sense of almost anything is an exercise in futility. What doesn’t have to be futile is figuring out how to cash on this golf event. As compared to many aspects in our current life, in which we have little or no relatable information, we have a large volume of info to work through on all the golfers in this tournament and golf odds to study.

PGA Picks: WGC-FedEx St. Jude’s Invitational Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 7/28/2020

The next two weeks will be the best of a limited season on the PGA Tour, as we start this week with the St. Jude’s Invitational in Memphis. This is a World Golf Championship event that has drawn 45 of the Top 50 players, making this a loaded field. With a purse of $10,500,000, that will attract a lot of attention. Also, this is further preparation for the first major of the year, the PGA Championship, next week.

PGA Picks: 3M Open Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 7/21/2020

We head north to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, which does not have quite that many golf holes. However, the state of Minnesota does have 400 golf courses. One of them is the TPC Twin Cities. This layout plays to 7,400+ yards, a par 71. This course was a longtime stop on PGA Tour’s Champions, before last year. This golf course opened in 2000 and is an Arnold Palmer design and used Tom Lehman, a Minnesota native, as a consultant.

PGA Picks: The Memorial Tournament Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Doug Upstone - 7/14/2020

For the first time since 1957, the PGA Tour will host a golf tournament on the same exact course as the week prior. Somehow that makes perfect sense in 2020. Muirfield Village, the house that Jack (Nicklaus) built, will hold The Memorial tournament. And opposed to last week, this is by invitation only. Nicklaus designed this course back in the 1970s and had the foresight to leave space, and it now plays at over 7,400 yards with a par of 72.

PGA Picks: The Players Championship Predictions and Golf Odds
by Chris Vasile - 3/10/2020

It wasn't pretty, but Tyrrell Hatton managed to hold on for dear life after shooting a two-over 74 in the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational to claim his fifth professional victory but first PGA Tour win of his career. Hatton led the tournament by two strokes heading into Sunday after shooting a 1-over 74 during one of the toughest rounds that Bay Hill has offered up in the tournament's long history.

PGA Picks: World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship Odds

Aussie Adam Scott won for the second time in his career at Riviera Country Club on Sunday, taking the Genesis Invitational at 11-under 273. Only it wasn't his second win there. Officially anyways. He also won the tournament in 2005, but it technically wasn't official because it was rain-shortened to 36 holes. Pretty sure the check still cashed, though.

Canada's Nick Taylor led wire-to-wire last week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, finishing at 19-under 268 for his second career PGA Tour win and the first Canadian to ever win that tournament. Taylor's first career victory was as a rookie at the 2015 Sanderson Farms Championship when that was an opposite-field event.

It's too bad no sportsbooks offer odds on a golfer to finish inside the Top 30 instead of Top 10, because if they did I'd be betting Webb Simpson every week. He won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Sunday in a playoff over Tony Finau - they finished 72 holes at 17 under, three shots clear of the field. Simpson looked like he might miss the cut after shooting a first-round 71 but then shot a second-round 63. He leads all Tour players (minimum of 60 rounds) in percentage of rounds at 65 or lower at 18.1 since the start of last season.

Pga Golf Odds For This Week

Not even into February yet, but I've predicted my first PGA Tour winner of 2020 already: Nailed Aussie Marc Leishman at +5000 to win the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego last week. He had been a runner-up at the tournament twice with a few other Top 10s mixed in so he was due.

Golf Picks: 5 PGA Golfers Who Could Win Their First Major in 2020
by Doc's Sports - 1/22/2020

As I write this, the PGA Tour is already two tournaments into its 2020 season with Justin Thomas winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions and Cameron Smith winning the Sony Open, both in Hawaii. I for one am excited about what lies ahead for us golf nuts as we progress through the winter months and arrive at Augusta National in April for what is sure to be another memorable Masters tournament.

Andrew Landry tried his darndest to give away The American Express tournament in Palm Springs on Sunday, blowing a six-shot lead but then managing to steady himself late and win at 26-under 262, two shots better than Abraham Ancer. Landry broke a tie with Ancer with a 7-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th hole and then birdied 18 for good measure.

Australia's Cameron Smith rallied from down two shots with two holes to play on Sunday at the Sony Open in Honolulu, forcing a playoff with Brendan Steele thanks to an eight-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole. Smith then won his first-ever solo PGA Tour event -- he did win the 2017 Zurich Classic two-man team tournament -- on the first playoff hole with a two-putt par from 10 feet.

Justin Thomas kicked off 2020 in style on Sunday by beating Patrick Reed and Xander Schauffele in a playoff to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua. It was the third victory in the past six Tour starts for Thomas as well as the 12th of his career. That's more career victories than any other active player under 30; Thomas is 26.

Welcome to another year of PGA Tour betting coverage here at Doc's! I usually accurately predict a handful of winners every year, but want to reaffirm my belief that wagering much money on a player to win a tournament is a fool's errand. A better option is a Top-10 finish, and the best of them value-wise are head-to-head matchups in this writer's opinion. I usually do throw a few bucks each week on the potential winner.

The 2020 PGA Championship will be the only major of the 2019-20 PGA Tour schedule, but the first of three majors played between now and mid-November.

One of the strongest fields in golf each and every year features all the top names from the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings, including No. 7 Tiger Woods. Below, we look at the 2020 PGA Championship betting odds, and make our PGA Tour picks and best bets to win the major.

TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, hosts the PGA Championship for the first time. The course measures 7,234 yards and plays to a par of 70 under championship conditions.

Brooks Koepka (+1000)

Pga Golf Odds For This Week Today

Koepka’s the rightful favorite while going for a third consecutive PGA Championship victory. He didn’t finish outside of the top 5 of a major last year and has won four of the last 10 majors in which he has competed.

His odds are higher than they should be after he missed the cut in two of his last three events. He returned to contention in his defense of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and showed he’s fully recovered from a prior knee injury.

Pga Golf Odds For This Week 2019

Tyrrell Hatton (+4500)

Hatton fell horribly flat in the WGC event in Memphis, Tennessee, but his odds have doubled despite the fact he’ll be competing against a nearly identical field. He ranks 10th in the Golfweek rankings and has two international wins and three other top 10s in six events since Nov. 10.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational champ entered last week ranked first in Strokes Gained: Putting, second in SG: Approach and fifth in SG: Tee-to-Green.

2020 PGA Championship Betting Picks – Tier 2

Adam Scott (+5000)

Scott, ranked 24th in the world, hasn’t played since missing the cut in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the PGA Tour season was suspended. He closed his 2019 schedule with a win at the European Tour’s Australian PGA Championship, and opened his 2020 season with a victory at The Genesis Invitational.

Today

His odds are inflated due to his lack of recent play. The former Masters champ finished inside the top 10 of the PGA Championship the last two years and has 19 career top 10s in majors.

Brendon Todd (+8000)

Todd continues to be disrespected by the oddsmakers in these stronger fields after winning the Bermuda Championship and Mayakoba Golf Classic in the fall. He showed at the WGC event at TPC Southwind he can contend against the world’s best.

2020 PGA Championship Betting Picks – Long shots

Matt Wallace (+15000)

Wallace ranks just 109th in the Golfweek rankings, but the four-time European Tour winner is 41st by the Official World Golf Ranking. He was T-4 in a tough field amid major-like conditions at the Memorial Tournament, and he tied for third at the 2019 PGA Championship.

Mackenzie Hughes (+20000)

Hughes will play the PGA Championship for the first time since 2017. He used a hot putter to tie for third at the Travelers Championship and sixth at the Memorial since the Tour’s restart. The Canadian has just one PGA Tour win but ranks 77th in the OWGR.

He’s well worth a shot in hopes of turning a $10 bet into a $2,000 profit.
